A tower in a dense urban area contains a library specific to astronomy and an observatory. The load bearing walls of the tower are carved away to make places for visitors to sit, read, and view the city and the sky.

Situated within a context of side streets and alleys, this labyrinthine language continues within the mass of the tower carving away a “vertical alley” which terminates at the roof top observatory. While not an observatory in the traditional sense, since light pollution would not allow for such a scenario, the space focuses observers to the sky.
